Suzan-Lori Parks 365 DAYS/365 PLAYS no http://www.atcweb.org/onstage/365days_plays.php In November 2002, Tony-Award winner Suzan-Lori Parks committed to writing a play a day for an entire year. From Nov. 13, 2006 – Nov. 12, 2007 the 365 DAYS/365 PLAYS National Festival will present the work simultaneously, involving approximately 800 theaters across the country. This is the largest world-premiere in American theatrical history. "The 365 DAYS/365 PLAYS project is such a great celebration of theater in America, and I am thrilled ATC is part of this nationwide project," says Artistic Director Damon Kiely. "I've worked with Suzan Lori Parks and Bonnie Metzgar personally and respect them highly as artists. I am excited that so many ATC Ensemble members [Lindsay Jones, Jim Leaming, Heather Meyers-Grum, John Mohrlein, Keith Pitts, Carmen Roman, and Gwendolyn Whiteside] are involved. Returning artists Art Shay and Cedric Young are also collaborating on this historic project. ATC looks to bring its own style of gritty authenticity to Parks's theatrical work." Suzan-Lori Parks's powerful plays include themes of racial relations, war, and existential musings. She offers us comic relief through her plays of overwhelmed holiday shoppers and complex romantic relationships. ATC performs Week 7 (December 25th-31st) as a live, radio play on Friday, December 29th, at 10PM, following a performance of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO SHOW. General admission to the 365 DAYS event is free. ATC will also podcast each day's play on our website beginning December 25th through December 31st.
